Kenjutsu
Kenjutsu (剣術) originated with the samurai class of feudal Japan. It means "methods, techniques, and the art of the Japanese sword".
The practice of Kenjutsu includes the practice of drawing the blade (Battōjutsu), performance of 2 person kata (pre-arranged techniques), battlefield grappling and throwing techniques (Jiu-Jitsu), as well as, sparring using bamboo swords (shinai) and armor (bōgu).
Advanced practitioners might also study the use of 2 sword techniques, naginata, spear, and the bo.
